Sawan ke badlo...

Swaran Lata (December 24, 1924, Rawalpindi, British India-February 8, 2008, Lahore, Pakistan) was Sikh by birth. She lost her parents very early and was raised by her brother. She was studying in Lucknow when she was discovered by some director.

She moved to Bombay and worked on stage and later had a lot of success in Hindi movies and was called the "tragedy queen". She acted with Prithviraj Kapoor and Dilip Kumar, to name a few.
She fell in love with her co-star, Nazir Ahmed(20 years her senior) during the shooting of "Laila Majnoo" and married him. She converted to Islam and changed her name to Saeeda Bano. After partition she migrated to Lahore, Pakistan with her husband. They were a very successful team and produced several successful movies.

Karan Diwan (1917-August 2, 1979, Bombay), a successful and popular leading man of 1940s-50s Bombay film industry, who also sang some memorable songs along the way.
Some of his films were "Lahore" with Nargis, in which he sang "Duniya hamare pyar ki" with Lata Mangeshkar;
"Musafirkhana" with Shyama, and "Bahar" with Vyjayanthimala. He also acted in "Jeene ki raah" and "Gumraah" in supporting roles.

I am very thankful to Azam for agreeing to sing this duet from an era gone by.

Movie: Rattan (1944)
Music: Naushad
Lyrics: D N Madhok
Original singers: Zohrabai Ambalewali & Karan Diwan

There's something in your voice, and I really need to hear all your songs Parasji. That thing is it acts on the heart! Plus, one gets transported to the era of the song.

I can only say that fortunate are those souls who areinterested in songs and music and who live in your vicinity!

Paras p don't know the song but it sounded perfectly sung! Your voice sounds a little diff' in this (as a matter fact so does Azam - I guess you modulated your voices for this one). Must say you cover these retro numbers so very well. Liked very much!

Very well sung.....it took me back to the black and white era of Hindi Films....

The modulations were wonderfully performed by both of you....

Paras, your voice has that unique rusticness of singers like Shamshad Begum and Zohrabhai...

Excellent…This reminds me of my childhood, I heard this song on Radio Silone more often and I liked it at that time. By listening to Paras and Azam I liked it much more. Just to refresh my memory I listened the original song on the You-tube, honestly I felt more feelings and liveliness of the words in Paras and Azam’s singing. Keep it up and keep old songs alive.

Absolutely lovely rendition by both of you. Azam's voice modulation, and the expressions/delivery by both of you are too good. Thanks for taking us back decades back, when music was in its pure form. Beautiful work Paras, Azam.

Just an idea...hearing the pro-quality of these songs (including the recording), get hold of a recording company and release a CD......Bhule-Bisre Geet.

Shantha: It makes me very happy that you liked it. Some of this music was used by Naushad Sahab in "Pyar kiya to darna kya" 16 years later.

Pradeep: Original is very nice. I am glad you found this rendition to be good. Thanks!

Asim: You made my day. Ajay mixed it and I am very thankful to him for that. Azam and Ajay will be very happy to learn that you enjoyed this song.
