Ranjish hi sahi...

Mohammed Ali (November 19, 1938, Rampur, India- March 19, 2006, Lahore, Pakistan) was a very popular actor and was known as Shahenshah-e-Jazbaat. He was the winner of 7 Nigar awards for best actor, supporting actor and special award. He was married to actress Zeba.

Zeba (Shaheen- born on October 3, 1946 in Ambala, India) is one of the most famous, beautiful, glamorous and well respected actresses of Pakistan. She was a true superstar and credited for insuring success of many actors with whom she was paired.
Her first marriage to Sudhir(Pakistan's first superstar and action hero) was short lived. She married actor Mohammed Ali in 1966.

Mohammed Ali and Zeba lived a very opulent life style. Both of them were included in the 25 (all time) greatest actors of Asia which was published by CNN on March 4, 2010.

Nisar Bazmi (Syed Nisar Bazmi: 1924, Bombay, India- March 22, 2007, Karachi, Pakistan) was a famous music composer who was responsible for introducing Alamgir to Film music in Pakistan. Laxmikant-Pyarelal worked as musicians with him before the Independence of India and creation of Pakistan.

Ahmed "Faraz" ( Syed Ahmed Shah: January 14, 1931, Kohat, NWFP, British India-August 25, 2008, Islamabad, Pakistan), was one of the fine poets of his time, known for his simple yet beautiful poetry. He was outspoken and remained in self imposed exile during Zia-ul-Haq era. He was awarded Hilal-e-Imtiaz( the second highest honor given to a civilian or a military personnel in Pakistan) in 2004, for literary excellence but he returned it in 2006, showing his disapproval of Government and politics.

Mehdi Hassan (born in 1927, Luna, Rajasthan, India) is a famous Pakistani ghazal singer (known as King of Ghazals) and playback singer for Lahore film industry.

I have tried a version made popular by Runa Laila.

I admire your song selection. I understand that it's a difficult song given the range and the complex Urdu words but you effortlessly sailed through it. The introduction to each artist associated with this song is a wonderful effort. Amazing clarity throughout and you maintained the tempo. Wouldn't be surprised if you can attempt "Duma Dum Mast Kalandar" by Runa Laila. Thanks a lot for rendering this so easily.

Parasmaniji,
What can I say? I used to hear this ghazal in the Seventies after I happen to hear Mahdi Hasan's Ek Husn Ki Devi Se Mujhe Pyaar Huwaa Thah... by good fortune.

And now I heard the Ranjish Hi Sahi from you. Though I am not an expert, but still I'm a good bathroom singer and therefore can recognise a good voice and good tune when I hear it. I say with conviction that I could go on hearing your rendition all night. Such is the soothing effect.
Congratulations for a job well-done!

Your singing prowess shines through, again, through this much difficult ghazal. Effortless singing at its best! I wish I understood half of those Urdu lyrics....it would have helped to appreciate your effort even better. Nevertheless, your voice texture, and expressions made me hit the replay button. Superb gayaki.......loved it.

One minor observation...I think the voice sounded a tad louder than the track......making the voice sound a bit 'in the front', leaving the background track at a distance.

Beautiful song U have done full justice with lot of feel.
U and Azam bhai are Unique with proper usage of Hindi and Urdu words.
Why not admit the truth - Happy visiting blogs rather than musical sites:(
VOICE ALONE WILL NEVER MAKE A BRILLIANT singing, it is the expressions, & diction which captures the listener's heart.
U have A SINGER WHOSE MUSIC CANNOT BE RATED. Admire U my dear sweet singer. God bless U at work and singing too. Thanks.

Parasmani said...

Priya: You have made me very happy. I try very hard to do justice to a given project, but your saying "perfectionist" is a very kind gesture.

Paras, have been out of blogging and net for a long while since am occupied with an album for which I am doing music. But could not resist hearing your voice in a ghazal and one of my favourite one too! You have sung with wonderful command on all fronts esp diction, expression, flow and sweetness. My only nitpicks would be some minor off's which you should learn to correct using your recording software(you are a pro now with so much recording experience :) ). The other one is your voice could have a little less gain compared to the k-track to blend it better with the track.
