Ye raat ye chaandni phir kahan...

"Jaal" was produced by Guru Dutt. The story is based in Goa (then under Portuguese control). A story of love and forgiveness based on the Principles of Christianity...unusual theme for a Guru Dutt film, with Geeta Bali(Maria) and Dev Anand(Tony) in the leading roles.

Guru Dutt and Dev Anand were very good friends and had made an agreement to use each other (as director and actor) for their films.

This duet, originally sung by Hemant Kumar (June, 16 1920-September 26, 1989) & Lata Mangeshkar, has been on my favorite list forever.
I thank Asim for his prompt response to my request to sing this duet.

Movie: Jaal (1952)
Music director: S.D. Burman
Lyricist: Sahir Ludhianvi

Wow ... a show of pure finesse! And for me, its pure bliss! Listening to it the third time now.

Paras, you sound so good! Simply beautiful! Your singing is what makes heart truly happy. Feelings ... amazing! I am in total awe!

Asim Da, you have "captured the ocean in a drop". Feelings are mesmerizing! Sadness and sorrow is dripping from every word. And I do not even have to mention how well you have brought back the memories of Hemant Da's voice. Wow!

Really happy to listen to this before going to sleep.

The feeling in the song are mesmerizing and Asimda, all I could term your voice is "Khuda Ki Awaaz" and sounds like Hemant Kumar. Paras Didi, as usual you are flawless and you have a very expressive style of singing which makes this rendition very comfortable to sing.

Azam: Receiving comments/feedback from a singer of your caliber means a lot, anytime. The 'personifications' in your comments are awe-inspiring. I have learnt so-o-o much from you, from your singing capabilities, from your painstaking analyses. I feel proud to have a friend like you Azam.

Harshad: Thanks for listening, and for your comments. Let us hear your 'live' duets with Paras. I am sure they would be mesmerizing.

Photographer Pappu: Glad you liked our duet Pappu. Paras' voice is nothing but full of feelings, in each of her renditions.

Dinesh: Thanks for liking our effort Dinesh. My voice is not as close to HemantDa's, as yours is to MukeshJi's.

Anjaan: Good to know that you liked our duet. I don't know how much my 'one-liner-loop' has contributed to the song, but I know that it was Paras' one of the best renditions. Loved it.

Nikita: Thanks for listening. I want to sing some duets with you as well, as soon as I feel better.

Dinesh Sedani: Thanks. Do you sing? Can we get to hear some of your songs, please?

Bharti: Yes, Paras' 'daastaan' amongst other words carried exemplary emotions and feelings. I agree. Thanks Bharti, we appreciate your good words.

Rahul: Thanks for visiting, and enjoying the duet.

Shantha: Old gem is where Paras excels the most, it's her forte! Thanks. We "keep singing", as long as "you listening"....and "you singing too"!!!

Akshay: Bhai Saab, I am totally speechless (and extremely flattered) by your good words, especially for an ordinary singer as yours truly. Thanks wholeheartedly!

Dilshad: Thanks a ton!

Jatin: It makes the effort worthwhile when listeners do 'listen', and leave back a comment. Thanks!

Nandita: If the song caught your attention, it has to be good. Thanks. How was the trip? Can we get to hear a beautiful song in your voice soon?

Syed: Thanks for your comments.

Thanks Paras for giving me the opportunity to sing w/you.
I had already commented about your rendition. It is absolutely phenomenal; the expressions, the feelings, the voice.....everything blended so well. Bicchadne ki dard is dripping from your voice. One of your best renditions.

Pradeep: Thanks for liking our attempt. I am tickled pink that my voice reminded you of the great Hemant Kumar. The spontaneity and beautiful flow in Paras' voice truly did magic to this evergreen song.
