O Mere Sona...

Teesri Manzil (1966)...a crime story with a romantic angle, directed by Vijay Anand and starring Shammi Kapoor and Asha Parekh had some of the most popular songs composed by R D Burman. Producer Nasir Hussain wanted Dev Anand for the lead role but Dev was not available.

Other Nasir Hussain productions were Dil de ke dekho (1959), Jab Pyar Kisi Se Hota Hai (1961), Phir Wohi Dil Laya Hoon (1963),Baharon Ke Sapne (1967), Pyar Ka Mausam (1969), Caravan (1971), Yaadon Ki Baraat (1973) and Hum Kisi Se Kum Nahin (1977).
Nasir Hussain was Aamir Khan's uncle.

Azam and I recorded this last year.

Oooo.. one of my favorite oldie goldie! Thanks Paras!

Candid comment: I could easily imagine Azamji as playback for Shammi Kapoor, but it was tough fitting your voice for Asha Parekh.

Can you remember a song Geeta Dutt sang for Asha Parekh? I'm sure you will in an instant!

Last but not least, thanks to Paras for asking me to participate in this wonderful song. Besides singing flawlessly, She also took over the mixing responsibilities and I am never disappointed with hers and Ajay's judgements on those decisions.

Dear Parasji,
Heard 'O mere Sona' and 'Tauba tumhaare ye ishaare'!
Somehow i think you are not using the 'bhav' or expressions as you call it,considering the actress and actor involved! Therefore your singing (swars sit very pretty)sounds more classical then playback!Probably why the oldie numbers suit your voice and singing style better!
Azambhai-Went on your blog to hear 'Aadmi jo kehta hai',after hearing 'O mere sona'!
I think you have ingrained Rafi sahab so much in your bloodstream that singing any other playback singers songs(except Sonu, who also is a rafi like singer)keeps sounding like a rafi number!I think it just comes naturally to you!
But youre too good at all Rafi numbers!
i keep playing and hearing our 'Bane chhahe Dushman' number in my car and my friends cant believe the familiarity with Rafi sahabs voice!

Take care and happy Singing!

Nitin
