Raksha Bandhan

"Raksha bandhan" falls on Shravan Purnima (usually August). On this day a sister ties a Rakhi(Raksha) on brother's wrist and hopes for his well being and the brother promises to protect the sister from all harm.

During Mughal period in India, Rajputs were fighting Muslim invasions. When Rani Karnavati (the widow of the then Raja of Chittor) realised that she could not defend Chittor from the invasion of the Sultan of Gujarat, Bahadur Shah, she sent a rakhi to Emperor Humayun. The Emperor touched by the gesture, accepted the rakhi and immediately started off with his troops to protect Rani Karnavati.

In "Bhaiya mere..."it bathes you with Paak Jazbaat of Bhai-Behn.

Wah! Raag Pilu paints such a versatile hues of range of emotions!
In 'Ab ke baras..." it's the haunting foreboddings of an oppressed, abondoned woman that rings tuti huee bewaaki chudiyon ki tarah, and in

"Jayieeye aap..." it proclaims Maashuk ki mohabbat ka itminaan,quwwat...fakhr.

Let all thses shades flow through Paras's ever sharbati/sadma-e- halaq...and one can't stop listening.I could not!

Paras,

I must say that the selection of themes on your blog has been very thoughtful and appropriate. You also have been touching on subjects and occasions that are not commonly dealt with. "Uttarayana" and "Raksha Bandhan" are a couple obvious examples.

I agree with Sattar bhai that listening to this song fills your heart with innocent and "paak" emotions. Needless to say that you have sung it beautifully.

The song reminds me of my sister, Vimala Dave (baby), who passed away on 20th June 1966, on her first marriage anniversary at Vadilal Shah hospital in Ahmedabad. I still have her hand written note, where she had written...
Shayad wo sawan bhi aye, jo pahela sa rang na laye..
Bahen paraye desh basee ho, agar wo tum tak pahunch na paye..
